RIGOROUS. EVIDENCE-LED.

Judging Process

The RBI Asia Trailblazer Awards are assessed by an independent panel of senior retail-banking analysts and industry experts. Commercial partners and sponsors do not determine award outcomes.

All commercially sensitive financial, customer and operational information submitted as part of an entry is treated in confidence and used for judging purposes.

The Judging Panel

The 2027 panel will bring together senior specialists with expertise across retail banking, digital banking, payments, lending, technology, customer experience, risk and financial services strategy.

How entries are assessed

Entries are reviewed against the purpose and criteria of the category entered.
Judges assess submissions independently before final moderation.
Scores and recommendations are compared and discussed where categories are close or require further review.
The panel may move an entry to a more appropriate category if the evidence fits better elsewhere.
The panel may choose not to make an award where entries do not meet the required standard.
Final decisions rest with the judging panel and are not influenced by sponsors or commercial partners.

What judges will look for

Entries are reviewed against the purpose and criteria of the category entered.

Category fit
Does the submission directly answer the award being entered?
Evidence
Are the claims supported by relevant data, examples and measurable outcomes?
Impact
Did the initiative or performance materially improve customer, commercial, operational, risk or social outcomes?
Differentiation
What is genuinely stronger, more effective or more relevant than normal market practice?
Execution
Was the strategy implemented effectively and at meaningful scale?
Market context
How strong is the result relative to the realities and competitive maturity of the market in which it was delivered?

A NOTE ON 'INNOVATION'

Innovation is not judged by how new a technology sounds. In mature APAC markets, many capabilities that were once differentiating are now expected. Judges will therefore look at whether the entry solves a meaningful problem better, reaches customers more effectively, improves economics or risk, or creates a result that is genuinely difficult to replicate.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Entrants are encouraged to provide the evidence judges need to make a credible decision. Commercially sensitive information will remain within the judging process and will not be published or shared with other entrants, sponsors or third parties without permission.
